Six-year-old Mileydi Careli Paramo lives in Nicaragua and suffers from arthritis. Her family does not always have enough money for her treatment. Mileydi's mother, Maria Andrea Lopez, a leader in the community, is working hard to provide for Mileydi's care, as well as for her two sons. Maria has learned to sew in a course made possible in part with support from OGHS. She now makes her family's clothes and sews for a living. Maria Andrea also attends leadership workshops, equipping herself to make decisions that benefit both her family and community.
