When both Haiti and the Dominican Republic suffered from flooding, OGHS donations helped to expedite a shipment of emergency supplies to families affected by the disaster. The needs were great. Affected communities themselves decided which of the vulnerable families needed the assistance the most. Says the mayor of Higuero, a small community near the Dominican-Haitian border, “Letting us decide means you have confidence in us.”
