Antonía Tzul is a human rights advocate and part of the field staff of a local food security program made possible in part with OGHS support. Nutrition levels are precarious in her region of Guatemala, and she is working with Mayan communities to increase and diversify family food production and improve the overall quality of life through culturally appropriate farming technologies and training, including soil and water management methods that are efficient and sustainable, and that protect watersheds and the environment. A widow of the Guatemalan civil war, Antonía is also a longstanding defender of the human rights of indigenous women and children.
